The company / A little history
Siva began its activity in 1960 with a sole mission: to produce the highest quality in lace, using double Jacquard Valenciennes looms (Leavers) in the most precious fine gauge, as in the best tradition of the school of Calais.
In fact, these were the years where only the French Lace Masters seemed to be able to produce this type of very refined and exclusive lace.
The actual factory was built in 1996, and within a few years SIVA affirmed itself with its own range of products and with its own exclusive designs, sold either in Italy or abroad, and started to become recognized worldwide for its style.
The combination of recognized French tradition and the typical Italian originality give birth to a new style that has distinguished our company and will continue in the years to come.
SIVA renewed its production lines, over the years, keeping itself up to date with the technical evolutions:
In 1970 the first Karl Mayer Raschel machines were installed. This was the first of a series of steps that will led to the complete replacement of the Leavers machines with the modern KM machines, in 1989.
1985 started a new era for our product, with the introduction of elastic laces, and here too SIVA was a pioneer, developing a successful collection of Raschel rather than Leavers laces.
In 1986 started the era of computerized production, and SIVA was among the first companies in the world to understand that the future of lace rests in the hands of technology. The first Jacquardtronic machine was installed, followed by many others and by a line of Textronic machines.
In 2002 Newcolours, the dye house owned by the group and specialized in lace dyeing and finishing, starts operating.
In 2005 SIVA invests in its own internal yarn binding and twisting department, with the vision to pursue total control of all knitting related operations, and to encourage research of new yarns and materials.
Research and development of new products and new technologies is for SIVA a point of pride, as well as an integrating part of its mission. SIVA has deposited and owns numerous industrial patents, which vary from knitting techniques to the most innovative machinery, that brought us today, to the establishment of the world’s most modern and advanced lace clipping and shearing department, as well as to the establishment of a modern bonding line, to laminate lace to fabric, to make foil print on lace and fabric, as well as traditional transfer print.
The year 2006 is for SIVA the beginning of a new era: a machine renovation plan has been established and already started, with new generation Jacquardtronic and Textronic machines that already begun to integrate and substitute the existing machine bank with a resulting increase in efficiency, production capacity, as well as in quality of the product. |
